North Star of Chester County was thrilled by the success of its 2019 Casino Night Fundraiser. Supporters enjoyed a night of casino games at the American Helicopter Museum & Education Center, raising funds for the agency's homelessness prevention and self-sufficiency program.
In addition to raising funds for the program, North Star of Chester County raised awareness of homelessness in Chester County, even among families with full-time working parents. The emcee for the evening, North Star supporter and retired CEO of Bradford White Corporation, Nick Giuffre, christened Casino Night attendees as ambassadors for the organization. "It is up to you to go out there and tell the story of North Star and the stories of the families they serve," said Giuffre.
Last year, North Star of Chester County helped 131 single parents and their children remain in their homes. However, the need for continued support remains. According to the recent Decade to Doorways Point in Time Count, as many as 517 people experience homelessness on a given night in Chester County. North Star of Chester County helps prevent families in their program from adding to that number, helping parents maintain rent and avoid eviction.
