IMPACT IN THE COMMUNITY

Chester County has a lot of hard-working, single mothers and fathers who strive to be

self-sufficient and do the best for their children, but are struggling to stay afloat financially.

Low wages and the lack of affordable housing throughout the County threaten family stability.

Families in crisis develop complex problems which may require multiple levels of support and are costly to resolve.

Keeping people in their homes and jobs strengthens families and supports early childhood development.

North Star of Chester County offers qualified single mothers and fathers, who are willing to work hard, up to three years of monthly rental assistance, one-on-one mentoring and additional support for families to help them achieve financial stability.

By helping single working parents succeed, North Star of Chester County offers a proactive and cost-effective benefit to the entire community.

North Star guides Chester County’s single working parents with dependent children, who are at risk of homelessness, toward stability and financial independence. We help our participant families remain in clean, safe, affordable housing while they work toward independence. North Star was incorporated in 1993 and has 501(c)(3) status under the Internal Revenue Code. We are proud to have been selected as the United Way of Chester County’s 2015 Community Partner of the Year.
