Cold and flu season is in full effect. Every year, the working poor don't just suffer coughs, sniffles, fevers, and chills-- they suffer further from missed work, lost wages, and budgets strained by the cost of healthcare. To alleviate the financial burden of getting sick, North Star of Chester County put out the call to its supporters for Sick Day supplies on Giving Tuesday.
Each year, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, non-profits around the world ask supporters to dig a little deeper and consider making a donation to their charity of choice. Once the Black Friday blitz is over, the Cyber Monday deals done, and the Thanksgiving leftovers are gone, the organizers behind Giving Tuesday want to remind folks about the nature of giving in the holiday season. In lieu of monetary donations, North Star wanted to give supporters a chance to donate something different this year. And they delivered.
On behalf of the families we serve, thank you to the loyal supporters who donated medicine, soup, cough drops, Pedialyte, tissues, cleaning supplies, and more during our Giving Tuesday drive. Because of this support, we received enough supplies to provide every family in our program with a care package.
